Keeping Colony Records

I am very willing to keep "portfolios" of my colonies but may find it difficult to get each cat's picture. I am wondering if it may be feasible to take pictures as they are trapped and in the surgical suite. Because we are forced to work "undercover" and in the middle of the night, there is no opportunity to take pics.

cat portfolios

It will be really helpful for all caregivers to keep a well organized binder or file box of their cats.  At the surgical center we will be taking "mug shots" of the cats as part of the package for the registered colonies.  The photo is not very becoming because the cats are asleep when they are taken.  The microchip number is also included with the photo.  At release there is a clear document protector with the medical/surgical form, rabies certificate, microchip certificate and photo for each cat that goes to the caregiver to put into the filing system.  If there are any complaints about a colony where animal control is called in it will be essential that the caregiver demonstrates a well organized record of the fact that the cat(s) in question are spayed/neutered and have had their vaccines.  It will also be needed for when it is time to try to booster the rabies vaccines and for doing a census of the colony for renewals and requests for information to help in grant acquisitions.  Hopefully this answers the question.  If not repost
