SENIORS FOR SENIORS FOSTER PROGRAM
If you are a senior in need of companionship or know of someone who is then the Sheltering Hands Senior for Seniors Program may be for you. The program has been active for the past 3 years and currently has 12 cats in senior homes in Marion county. There are several cats currently in our foster homes who would qualify to provide companionship to a willing senior. Although all of the cats are adults, they are not all seniors themselves. Because this is a foster program, once the senior home can no longer provide care the cat is returned to the Sheltering Hands foster network. This alleviates the need for family members to take on the responsibility of the pet when circumstances change. A few of our candidates are profiled below. All candidates are spayed/neutered, are current on vaccines and are microchipped.
If you would like an application or need further information please call 352-817-0663 and leave a message on our voice mail. A volunteer will respond within 48 hours.
